As part of efforts to strengthen parliamentary dialogue between the Republic of Djibouti and the French Republic, the Djibouti National Assembly hosted a working visit from a delegation of auditors from the Institute of Higher National Defense Studies (IHEDN) on the afternoon of Monday, January 26, 2026. The delegation included French parliamentarians, senior officials, officers, and press representatives.
Under the chairmanship of Honorable Mrs. Safia Elmi, First Vice-President of the National Assembly, a working meeting was held with members of the Djibouti-France Friendship Group, in the presence of the Presidents of the Standing Committees.
In her opening remarks, Honorable Mrs. Safia Elmi welcomed the IHEDN delegation and emphasized the importance of parliamentary dialogue as a lever for trust, stability, and sustainable cooperation, particularly in a regional and international context marked by significant security and strategic challenges.
Honorable Mrs. Neima Boulhan, President of the Djibouti-France Friendship Group, highlighted the strength of the partnership between Djibouti and France, rooted in shared history, mutual respect, and the rule of law. She stressed the central role of Parliament in consolidating a legislative framework that ensures national stability and enhances the country’s international credibility.
During the meeting, members of the friendship groups and chairpersons of standing commissions exchanged views on the current state and future perspectives of Djibouti-France relations, covering political, parliamentary, economic, security, and institutional dimensions. The discussions also focused on converging views on major regional and international issues.
Following the exchanges, a guided tour of the hemicycle and commission rooms was organized. Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to continue and deepen Djibouti-France parliamentary cooperation, in service of peace, stability, and mutual interests.
