As part of its citizenship and civic education program, the National Assembly of Djibouti welcomed students from the Collège de Boualous on Thursday, January 15, 2026. The group consisted of about thirty students from 6th to 9th grade, accompanied by the Principal, Mrs. Houria Abdi Hassan, and several faculty supervisors, for an educational visit to the parliamentary institution.
Upon arrival at the National Assembly headquarters, the students were warmly welcomed by His Excellency Mr. Dileita Mohamed Dileita, President of the National Assembly. They were then guided to the Hemicycle, the heart of legislative work, where a group photo was taken to commemorate the symbolic occasion.
The meeting was also attended by Honorable Mrs. Safia Elmi Djibril, First Vice-President of the National Assembly, Honorable Saleban Daher Bileh, Secretary of the Office, and several senior administrative officials.
During the visit, students participated in interactive and informative exchanges with parliamentary officials, covering topics such as the missions of MPs, stages of the legislative process, and the internal workings of the National Assembly.
The students had the opportunity to engage directly with the President of the National Assembly, who explained, in age-appropriate language, the fundamental role of Parliament in the functioning of the Republic’s institutions and the importance of national representation in democratic life.
On the administrative side, Mr. Ismael Goulal, Secretary-General of the National Assembly, together with senior officials of parliamentary services, provided briefings on the organization and missions of the Assembly’s various departments.
Following the visit, the teachers expressed their deep appreciation to the President of the National Assembly, the elected officials, and administrative staff for the quality of reception, availability, and richness of exchanges.
This initiative reflects the National Assembly’s ongoing commitment to bringing the parliamentary institution closer to younger generations through regular student visits from across the country, aiming to strengthen knowledge of Republican institutions and promote a citizen culture rooted in democratic values.
